Chi, Qi, Ki are names that the Chinese and Japanese use for energy. In the Indian tradition is spoken of Prana. The two/three traditions overlap and point out that there are different types of energy.
Chi is not one word but rather a concept. The Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM) makes no distinction between energy and matter, Chi is both. All energy in the universe is Chi. Chi is directly connected to a persons life and has three sources: Prenatal Chi which is transfered from the parents, Grain Chi which we takes from the food we take in and digest and Natural Air Chi which we take in from the lungs (not only oxygen)
When in TCM is spoken of the organs they don’t refer to the physical organs but the energetic organs. 12 of the organs are usually treated and spoken of dispite we have more organs and meridians.
As we can’t isolate something within the body because everything is connected we also can’t isolate a meridian. Meridians are structured water channels in our fascia. You could use the image of the currents in the ocean, they are not different than the water around it but just flow stronger. If we stress our fascia we automatically influence our meridians, yet never as specific as a acupuncturist would. Energetically you could concentrate on one of the 12 main meridians linked to the organs.
