Yin Yoga is like the founders Paul and Suzee Grilley say, not a pattented system. It can be taught by everbody when they learn what the function of Yin Yoga is and have a clear idea of the human anatomy.
Yin Yoga sprung from a Taoist form of Yoga which Paul and Suzee practiced with Paulie Zink and in combination with the work from Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama. Dr. Motoyama integrated the Chinese meridian studies with the Chakra theory from India (Bihar School of Yoga).
Yin Yoga got it’s name in 2000 when Paul met Sarah Powers and she suggested the now given name. Until that time it was called Taoist Yoga.
