Yin or  Yang Yoga

All different types of Yoga came from just one. You could state that everything we do with the body is Hatha Yoga (yoga of force). A huge difference between Yin and Yang is that in the latter the ‘target area’ are the muscles. Mostly there is effort involved stimulating the heartbeat and circulation. In the beginning Yoga was practice in a slow pace and had no specific name like Yin or Yang.

With the introduction of Ashtanga/Vinyasa Yoga softer types of Yoga got less popular. The more flow inspired styles spread faster among the public. From that huge popularity we still experience the effects especially with people new to Yoga who think you need to be flexible and a practice always contains Sunsalutations.

Yin Yoga is a natural, healing practice which talented teachers have always included in their daily life. By their effort and influence we know the Yoga as it is today. Dispite many new forms and styles are introduced the base of Yoga will always remain the same, the union of body and mind.

Yin and Yang are both neccesary and compliment each other. The one cannot exist without the other because then we don’t have any reference for relativity. This is also found in a well known Taoist symbol. (see picture)
